Much of what we need and value in our lives comes to us because a truck made it accessible. The countless items we take for granted are made possible because a truck brought raw materials to a production site - and finished goods to our community.
But not all of what we need and cherish is manufactured or transported. And the very act of transporting even the most vital of commodities has an impact on that which can be neither made nor moved by mankind – the environment that sustains us. Recognizing the potential magnitude that the transportation industry has on the environment, the US Environmental Protection Agency launched the SmartWay(SM) program in 2004 to alleviate environmental impact.
All SmartWay transportation programs result in significant, measurable air quality and carbon emission improvements while maintaining, or even improving, current levels of other potential pollutants. As fellow citizens who enjoy a wide range of the blessings provided by this nation’s great outdoors spaces, Modern’s leadership strongly supports, and eagerly embraces, SmartWay programs.
Modern Transportation has been assessed by the EPA and is proud to have been designated a SmartWay Partner. That certification reflects our on-going commitment to good environmental performance and continuous improvement therein.
